What is Brickweave Paving?

Brickweave (also known as basket weave) is a traditional paving pattern where rectangular concrete blocks are laid in pairs at right angles to each other, creating a distinctive woven appearance. This classic design has been used on driveways, paths, and patios for decades, and remains popular for its timeless aesthetic and exceptional durability.

Unlike standard block paving laid in stretcher bond (brick wall pattern), brickweave creates visual interest through its interlocking geometric design. The pattern is achieved using standard rectangular blocks, typically 200mm x 100mm, laid in alternating pairs. This creates natural visual “squares” across the surface while maintaining the strength and load-bearing capacity block paving is known for.

We install brickweave driveways using high-quality concrete blocks in a range of colours and finishes. The blocks are laid on a properly prepared sub-base with correct edge restraints, ensuring your driveway remains stable and level for decades. The distinctive woven pattern suits both traditional and contemporary properties across Norwich and Norfolk.
